Daylight Savings.

It may save daylight, but it sure doesn't save time. Last Saturday night I began the twice yearly changing of the clocks. When I was a little boy that would have consisted of moving the hands of grandfather clock in the living room and the kitchen clock. Oh, and maybe an alarm clock in each bedroom. Last Saturday it took me an hour to change clocks, and I still missed two of them. Just in the garage we have: one clock in each of our two cars, a timer clock for our hot water recirculating pump, a timer clock for our furnace automatic fresh-air intake system, a timer for our sprinkler system, and a wall clock. I skipped the one on the boom-box since I don't care about it. That's seven clocks just in a garage, for crying outside!!!

The electronic timer for our porch/driveway lights takes 15 minutes to change because it is so complicated I have to get our the instruction book every time I change it's time in order to figure out how the heck it works.

So when your elderly parents say life was simpler in the "good old days", we aren't kidding.

But then, I wouldn't give up my iPhone, my Garmin (Alice), my computer(s), my PDA, my digital camera, my 52" HD TV, my DVR and other the other goodies just to live in the old days again. Hmmmmmm. Maybe not...the old days were simpler in so many other ways. But since youse guys are all in this century, that's where I want to be too!!!

YOU SEE--- ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

THIS IS AN E-MAIL I RECEIVED TODAY AFTER SENDING A LETTER TO OUR LOCAL T.V. STATION AND TO ROUND TABLE PIZZA. ROUND TABLE HAS NOT RESPONDED, BUT I WAS THRILLED ABOUT THE RESPONSE FROM KNDO! My philosophy is this: If you are not happy or satisfied with something, then do something about it. If you don't try to do something to change it, then you have no right to complain. Sorry, it's so long. I just copied the email as I received it. My letter is at the bottom. Read on-----

Thank you for your comments regarding this ad. While I personally had not seen the ad I did view it after receiving your message. After discussing this with the advertising agency for Round Table Pizza we agree that this ad is not appropriate for our station, especially in the early afternoon and evening time periods that Round Table advertises in. We have pulled this ad from our air.

I’m disappointed in KNDO for airing the ad from Round Table Pizza for the Big Vinny Pizza. I realize that you are at the mercy of the networks in what you have to present to the public. With so little entertainment that is family oriented, I would like to ask KNDO to think about the what you do have control over…..local advertizing. The following is a copy of the letter that I sent to Round Table:
I am writing in response to your ad about the Big Vinny Pizza. I teach 5th graders and am always trying to instill in them a good sense of moral values and behavior. When I saw your Round Table Knight doing a Chippendale Routine and asking if we want a "Slice of this" and "Do you ladies like my pepperoni" I was disgusted. You guys can do better than this! I'm not sure why advertisers feel they have to bring sex into something that isn't at all sexual, and on TV to boot. Children, as well as adults, are impressionable and I'm pretty sure a knight doing an erotic dance is not the impression you want to public to have of your company. Shame on you! Big Vinny is definitely not a hit with me or any of the teachers that I discussed this with in the teachers' lounge last week. I challenge you to have advertisements that are as tasteful as your pizza is tasty.
